Hardwired equipment with cord added

Portable HVAC equipment (on wheels) that is designed for a 480V 3ph 20A hardwired circuit.
I would like to have a 10/3 plus Gnd SO cord added with the appropriate NEMA plug end.
Does anyone see a code violation modifying equipment to become cord connected? Is the listing based on being hardwired or cord connected?

I would contact the manufacturer to get their comments about the wiring method you want to use.

My instinct tells me they will say no. I am interested to see what they actually may have to say.
