I know there is no PA state license. I'm preparing for my masters license. An electrician I know who is also the electrical instructor at Harrisburg Area Community College (H.A.C.C.) told me to take the laser grade computer based exam. He said that after I pass the test I have to get a jurisdiction to recognize it. I can submit the test results to Harrisburg and they will decide weather to give me my license.
Is this the way it is in PA?
Do I have to be licensed for each individual county? That sounds a little weird to me.
Can anyone explain how PA electrical license works.

I live in PA and got my Allentown Master Electrician license in May 2008. The research I've done on licensing in PA is that you need to take an exam in the county/municipality/city you plan to do work in. Some places may reciprocate with one another, but there is no "one exam fits all" in PA.
