I was wondering if anyone out there had any experience with electrical equipment around diesel pumps. My understanding is diesel fuel is combustible and not flammable so it does not require the same explosion proof electrical equipment as gasoline does. Is there any special requirements around diesel? We are adding a fuel monitoring system to an outdoor Diesel fueling station.
Thanks for your help.

As a general rule, diesel fuel alone will not create an Article 500 Classified location. It is conspicuously absent from the list of ?Selected Combustible Materials? in NFPA 497, Table 4.4.2.

They don't require anything special for it here.

Sometimes we'll pipe it with seal-offs and explosion proof fittings if we think they might change it to a gas tank in the future. We don't put Chico in the sealoffs though.
