What are the typical installation techniques being used for shielded cable through a conduit sealing fitting in a CL1 Div 1 location? 501.5(D) presents conditions where cables can be treated as a single conductor, and where removal of the cable jacket/separation of the conductors within the seal is not required, if cable is sealed by an approved means within the enclosure. What would be considered an "approved means"? What determines whether a cable is capable of transmitting gases/vapors? Would a 3/C power cable be treated differently than a twisted pair shielded cable?

What determines whether a cable is capable of transmitting gases/vapors?
Check with the manufacturer of the cable.
