I had a question that we are facing here and wanted to run it by this forum. Here is the scenario:

For Class I Div I control package we have two Class I Division I Boxes that are joined with rigid pipe and a class I div I union. One of the explosion proof boxes is a limit switch that has ?GO? switches that work off of a magnet and are hermetically sealed inside the box. The only thing not hermetically sealed is the terminal strip. The other class I div I box contains just a terminal strip that is not hermetically sealed and is where all the wires are landed. My question is if a sealant fitting is required? I believe the NEC says no just because none of the boxes contain arc making devices that are not hermetically sealed. But I may be missing something and would like a second opinion.
