Where in the code does it require the use of hospital grade MC Cable, AKA HCFC Cable, in "Patient Care Areas"? 517.13 (A) requires only an armored jacketed cable for branch circuits, AC or MC Cable? 517.13 (B) requires an insulated copper ground for receptacles, I read into this that standard MC Cable is okay?

The cable armor itself must be suitable as an equipment grounding return path. The armor of Interlocking Tape type MC cable is only suitable as an equipment grounding return path when combined with the equipment grounding conductor included in the cable assembly. Therefore, it does not satisfy the requirements of 517.13.

I agree with RB1. The sheath of standard MC cable does not meet the requirements of 250.118 to qualify as an equipment grounding conductor.

The sheath of the new Mcap cable does meet the requirements for use as EGC and as long as it also contains a copper equipment grounding conductor this cable can be used in patient care areas.

Also health care facility cable is actually AC cable with an additional copper EGC not MC cable.

P.S. welcome to the forum.:)
