Where if anywhere, can I find any code for conductors feeding a heating element. This is a hot knife on a piece of machinery that melts a plastic band. The cable connects to the element (2-conductors) and immediately exits the device. So only the end terminations connected to the ends of the element are subject to any heat. Is there any special requirements for such a connection?
It is a 120VAC / 3.2A heating element, 350W The cable has a plug/receptacle connection to a local J-box.

Code I cannot help with, but my plastic molding customers use high temperature wire supplied by (usually) heater band manufacturers or resellers. Companies like ppe.com and omega.com come to mind. Grainger also is a source.

Thanks all,
We had been using : Belden B3322E, (16AWG (19x29) Silver Plated Copper, TFE Insulation, Overall Silver Plated Copper Braid(85%) Shield, TFE Tape Outer Jacket, MIL-W-16878/4 (Type E) )
This stuff is $23.00 per foot !
We are now using a silicone based cable: TPC wire & Cable 41463 : AWG 16 / 3 Conductor. Silicone sheathing with tinned copper conductors. Rated at 200C.
This is about $2.00 a foot....

Worked at a large candy plant and had haters that rotated 90 degrees every time machine was shut off. We used a maroon colored hi temperature cable made in Europe that was great. Back in the 1960's we were using asbestos 16/2 cord for small heating elements. Thomas & Betts guess still make great hi temperature sta kin crimps that worked great on high temperature conductors
