I was installing the flex over the heating leads going to the T stat I was notching out the bottom plate of the wall to allow my flex to be flush with the wall at the floor and have continues flex for the concrete floor to the T stat I accidently cut the wires coming from the heat mat about 2" from the bathroom floor.

I called the Manufacturer "warmly yours" and they are sending me a splice kit. Therefore, is this legal and safe to splice the conductors and then heat shrinking the splices.

The heat mat company furnishes the splice kit but this voids the warranty but the customer and I can live with this. Would be the repercussions of splices the wires. The heat mat is embedded in concrete and would require tearing up the entire floor area of about 10X 8. Since the heat mat company is providing the splice kit would this make it ok then.

I've done several splices for Nuheat with the kit they provide and my heat gun. I would think that the splice kit is approved by UL otherwise I don't think that they would provide one. One thing I do on the rough is run 2 pipes with a short radius bender (to make the turn within a 2x4 wall). I cut the plate and leave them flush to the floor with a connector on both to keep the wires from rubbing on the pipe. One pipe is for the line voltage leads to the mat and the other is for the sensor. I hope this helps you in the future.

or, with smurf... if you use smurf, be sure to use nails to hold it in place so
you can post your picture here, and have peter call you a hack.... :D

oh, yeah... with the nuheat, make sure to put a 4sd box in for the controls, use a metal box, or you may have problems fitting it in.....

The heat mat was an extra/ after thought by the homeowner and the home owner installed it and then I was try to install the smurf tube over the wire thus the reason for having to notch the bottom plate. kind of a turned into to a remodel of the heat mat after the dry wall was put up owner decided he wanted the heat mat.

I have installed plenty of heat mat before and have always installed the smurf tube and box on the rough in. this was the first time doing a remodel of fishing heat mat leads up a wall. this was not a good day.
