All in one heat packs that have a heat pump and 10 kw strip heat that are installed on a single family dwelling unit. Will this unit require disconnects for each unit or can one 60 amp disconnect work for both?

Re: Heat packs

Mike I think that would be determined by the unit tag.

Most times I have wired commercial versions of this the heat section is an added accessory that has it's own OCP and the unit tag will list the MCA and MOCP with that accessory installed. So one disconnect is often OK.

I would hate to say it always that way as you know what happens when we assume.

Edit my grade school spellen'

Re: Heat packs

Thank you, Bob

I have never installed one that had electric heat and didn?t know how to answer the question. I know that the gas pack used only one disconnect.

We were going over 424.19 of the ?05 when I was asked. Having never seen one I stated that I would post the question here as I was sure someone here had.

Re: Heat packs

There's a heck of a big chart on the air handlers of heat pumps that lists the model number of all the possible heat pack combinations and the wattage and amp draw and OCP size required. You're never in the dark on these units. There's tons of manufacturer info on the stickers and in the install book.
