Heat Pump Breaker Size

Looking for confirmation on Size of Breaker and Wire for this Heat Pump. Specs on sticker attached to unit are as follows:

Design Pressure. Hi 550 PSIG/3.79MPa
Refrigerant R410A/102.29oz (2.9 kg)
The Rated Input Current of the Power Conversion Equipment 27.5A
Minimum Circuit Ampacity 36.0A
Max Fuse 40.0A
Outdoor Unit Resistance Class IPX4

I believe I will need a 40 amp Breaker and #8AWG Wire but need some confirmation. Would the #8 wire need to be 8/2 or 8/3?
