I got called to check a heat pump, on a residential roof.Unite is being feed from two breakers. A 30 Amp 2-p and a 60amp 2-p no discount up top.

From reading thought the instruction manual the heat strips are an accessory option, this unit has them. The instruction refer sizing off name plate. Their is no name plate for the original unite. Just one for the accessory heat strips.
I will call manufacturer to get the name plate information. It’s an old unite

My question is, it looks like I need two disconnects for this unite. One for heat strip one for the heat pump itself. Every one I ever hocked up had its own breaker in the unite itself.
Attached is the only nameplate I could find along with heat strip info

It depends on the manufacturer. Some manufacturers wire their units for 1 disconnect for the heat and AC. Some require 2 disconnects (1 heat & 1 AC)

And some manufacturers allow you to wire the same unit it with one or 2 disconnects.

Also, the manufacturers frequently use different size electric heater elements.

Usually all this information is on the unit nameplate.

In your case it looks like 2 disconnects are required
