I had a problem on my exam that read: A heat pump terminates on what terminal on a thermostat? How is this related to a Electrician and not HVAC?

A heat pump does not have a single terminal on a thermostat, you have the compressor, the reversing valve, a second stage terminal for two stage compressors, and sometimes defrost related terminals.

I'm sorry to say this but based on some of the questions you have asked I have to wonder if you don't already know just as much or more than the source you are receiving instruction from. I am glad you come here with questions though. We will straighten you out.

Yes, it seems an odd question on an elec exam. And Kwired is right, there is no heat pump terminal per say. But a well rounded electrician should at least know the basics of such things. Terminal designations for HVAC class 2 stuff has been around since dirt was invented. Such as Y for cool, B for common. R for fan, O for reversing valve, W for heat, G for fan. There are more and have variations but this gives you the idea.
