Hey gentlemen,

It's been years since I've been in school with ABC apprenticeship(8 to be exact.) I'm second guessing myself on this application for sizing the wire for this equipment. It has a MCA 41.36 FLA 1.3. 208/240 SP. For this application I'm using THHN, looking at the conductor sizes #8 is good for 55 amps, so that would determine my OCP to be a 2P50. I guess my true question would be, for that 50 amp breaker would I have to take into account the 80% of the breaker restriction or is that simply negated by the MCA rating? Any help is greatly appreciated! I must admit, I'm a little embarrassed. I haven't dealt with motors/ motor load calculations since my younger years.

If you have a factory nameplate all you need worry about is MCA & MOCP.
All the relevant calculating has benn included. Your conductor must have an ampacity equal to or greater than the MCA and your overcurrent device must not exceed the manufacturers data,
(440.22(C) }
