Heat pump calculations can get quite complicated. Most calcs would use the optional 220.30 method as the example in Chapter 9 is explained.

But say you are calculating for a MDU (multi-family dwelling unit) and use information from the one-family dwelling unit calcs. Different setups could occur such as heat pump ? heat only, heat-pump ? A/C only, heat pump ? both heat & A/C, heat pump ? with supplemental heat, etc.. I would use mfgr's specs for load calcs. I would also make sure I calculated it as a motor.

In a spreadsheet I am developing this can get very complicated with different combinations. Just wondering if anybody has run into examples of these types of calculations. I have never spent the money for some of the expensive calculators or used any of them. Not sure how or if they address this scenarios.
