I'm installing a new 480/277v heat trace panel in a plant. I will be pulling off the mcc with 480v delta 350amp breaker. If I remember correctly I will need a 480v delta to 480v wye transformer for my neutral since all heat trace will be 277v. Since the voltage is the same though the transformer do I still need a main breaker at 350a on the panel?

Yes you do. See 408.36(B) and 240.21(C).

Just to be clear...you need a main breaker at the panel, but it doesn't necessarily need to be 350A. It can be any size that complies with 408.36(B), 240.21(C) and 450.3(B.)
