For those of us here in NC you well know we have all ready had 4 100+ deg. days. ( except for people like Roger) Time to buy stock in Gatorade:grin: . I had a contractor call to day needing a small item fixed in a attic I told him some one would be their at 7:00 am because company policy stated we do no work in attics after 10:00 am. He then ask " what company policy". I own the company, I set the policy. Drink up.

I remember just a couple of years ago when I was working for another EC, I was sent into an attic @ 2PM in July. Outisde temp was just over 100; the attic was at least 20 degrees hotter. My helper was at the attic stairs w/ the water keg throwing bottles to me. I drank 80 oz. of water in half an hour.

I can tell from your picture (avatar) that you are a little dehydrated.

It's even a tad warm here in Georgia. :D

And I can tell from yours that is what I need to be doing:grin:

Last summer was my first experience at dehydration and it was no fun. Thankfully it was not serious but we called rescue squad to be safe (we working working in an isolated community). I had a job the other day working on a post light and I called the HO to ask if I came in the following morning between 6:30 and 7 instead. It is just too hot to do the things that don't have to be done right then.

GREAT policy. :D Safety first.

I did a 15 hour shutdown job at a plant last Friday. 130F in the substation (Those transformers give off heat for hours), we actually were going outside to cool down and it was 103F.

Then, saturday I had to go to a B-day party for one of my kids friends, poolside for 8 hours, enough already.

Sunday, napped on couch in AC under celing fan most of day watching the race.

Supposed to cool down into the low 90's today.

Using portable fans shoved in the gable clossest to me and lots of water, I've lasted in an attic till 1pm, before realizing I was well done.

My eyes and lungs last longer when the fans blow debrise and insulation fibers away from me.

why wasn't your helper in the attic instead of you, he has to earn his wings also. i wish i was your helper, when i was an apprantice learning the trade.

You know is bad when

You know is bad when

Last summer pulled 2-24" fans off the trailer fired up the generator just so I could rebuild a service for a mobile home. It was an emergency Lady was preggers.... Kidos to the Utility and the Inspections Department on that job.

yeah, dehydration stinks.

Heat rash is no fun either! My cure for the heat rash is Under Armor. It sure helps keep you cooler and keeps me dry enough to avoid the heat rash. I know it's costly, but in the last two years it has sure proven it's worth for me.

because what took me half an hour would've taken him two hours; i didn't want to kill the poor guy. :)

rewired an iron casting plant once. The temp on the floor pushed 110, at the roof deck it was 150 to 160. We worked two man crews 1 man would go up in the lift screw on 10' of pipe strap it then come down and drink water.

We are really having a miserable time with the heat today. It's noon and already up to 65F. It will likely hit 70F by 3:00pm - I'll be sweating bullets.

I would feel sorry for everybody posting about the heat except that IT SNOWED HERE TODAY AND IS STILL SNOWING!!! Enough already. I would love some hot temperatures.

I've only had two or three days this spring where I could go out in a T Shirt. The high today is suppose to reach 7 C. (about 44 F)
Rain, Cold and Hail for the past few weeks.
