Hi! I'm new here. I live on the NC Coast and have operated my business as an electrical contractor for about 6 months now. My Dad is also an electrical contractor, and I worked for him for a few years before going on my own. I like to hunt and shoot, and have been known to go fishing now and then too;) .

I have a customer who wants me to relocate his panel to his mud room, BUT it has a washer and dryer. It seems like I remember somewhere in the code that a panel can't be located in a laundry room, but I can't find a reference. The closest thing I can find is 240.24 (e) that says you can't put a panel in a BATH room. (This room isn't a bath room). While I do attend continuing education and pay attention, I'm a bit rusty on my code, and hope to get back into it. (I don't like being the guy who shows up wanting to be spoon fed an answer, I've seen plenty of them on some hobby related forums I frequent...). Thanks,

Humbly,

Welcome to the forum. There is nothing prohibiting putting a panel in a laundry room if the requirements of 110.26 are met.

Bathrooms and areas such as clothes closets are prohibited. Laundry rooms are OK and I've installed a few panels in them myself.

laundry

laundry

I can't help but emphasize what Roger stated.....keep 110-26 in mind,,,and that's floor to ceiling.....I don't know how many "laundry" panels I find behind the washer or dryer.

Yeah, my favorite ones are the ones INSIDE a kitchen cabinet, usually from the 1950's, and the folks want to replace it with a new one, but don't want to move it. It makes for some inspections difficulties in some jurisdictions.....

But since I'm putting the washer and dryer circuit on the opposite side of the room from the panel, not much to worry about there.

Roger, what co. are you in? I'm in Carteret.
