Help - 6' Factory Whips

Where in the 2008 NEC code can I find if a 6? factory fixture form a junction box on the bar joist to a can fixture in a suspended ceiling needs to be supported/ or not supported?

One suggestion: When hanging a spiral cable from a connector, I like making sure whichever end the connector has a better grip on is the end that hangs from the box.

For example, the outer end of the wrap for external-gripping clamps, like straights and 90's, but the inside end when it's one of those internal screw-in connectors.

I do the same thing in almost all flex, MC/AC, etc., installations; whichever end will be less-well supported is the end that gets the best clamping connector.
