Hi guys,

I'm looking to find a multiwire butt splice connector designed to crimp two 18 gauge wires on one side and one 18 gauge wire on the other. Actually, I've found a product here: https://www.delcity.net/store/Sealed-Connectors/p_802080.h_791847. That said, I don't want all of that bulky heat shrink insulation. I just want the interior connector. There are a lot of "step-down" connectors out there, but most of those are designed just to step down from a single wire size to another single wire size. Can anyone tell me if there is a supplier who sells just the metal crimp portion of such a multiwire connector without heat shrink insulation?

I can't just make the step down connectors work (though they could) because that isn't what they are designed for, and I need to use these connectors in UL listed products, so the UL won't allow connectors to be used that aren't designed for that application without additional testing. I'm hopeful though that this is a common enough part that I can just find the right supplier! Thank you!

I'd go with a Wago 3 port Lever Lock connector:

http://www.homelectrical.com/3-port...eot4HLbx59CfFhlkBY8c_T6EmfGigUsqGsxoCUjvw_wcB

I believe they accept stranded or solid Cu wire 12-24ga.

eta: if the existing wire is too short to use one of these, then you could use a jumper from a 3 port to another 2 port connector. If your equipment cannot accommodate such connectors due to lack of space, perhaps rewiring may be a better option. I'm fairly sure a true butt-splice is available for 2 18ga wires on one side and one on the other, tho such a product is well outside my daily experience in rewiring/repairing. A Scotchlok UR3 I think only goes down to 19ga; there may be other IDC type connectors smaller than Wago (which arent IDC) for your application.

There you go. They work well. Why my big box only stocks the two or five, IDK.
