I can't find out how to wire a 120v motor anywhere. I am taking the Utah Residential Master Electricians practical exam on Saturday, but I have yet to find any resources on wiring a 120v motor. I checked the American Electricians Handbook and all kinds of places online. The best I could find is a chart that says to hook up L1 to 1,8 and L2 to 4,5 for Counter Clockwise and 1,5 and 4,8 for clockwise.
Is this really all I need to know for a practical exam? Please excuse my ignorance, but in all my 15 years as a residential guy I have never had to wire a motor. I always just plug them into a receptacle =].
