does anybody can help me with this calculation.

how to calculate the general lighting load for a 2 story school building the dimention are 100 ft times 160.
to my understanding and based on an example that i found in a mike holt's book is

Lighting Load 3va ft2

so

100ft *160=16,000 va
16,000 va * 3 vaft2= 48,000 va

48,000va * 2 is based in 2 floors. = 96,000 this would be my result but i dont know if its right or not, does anybody out there can help or correct me, or whats the right way to do this calculation.

Your calculation is correct. But, is 3VA/ft2 correct for a school building? Somewhere there is a table for different types of buildings. I don't know the answer because I didn't look at the table.

Table 220.12 and 3va/ft² is correct in both the 2017 and 2020 code. Many of the values were reduced in the 2020, but not the one for schools.

i was reading last night and i found out that schools is considered continuous load.

based on this exam, do i need to m multiply this result by 125%

100ft *160=16,000 va
16,000 va * 3 vaft2= 48,000 va
48,000va * 2 is based in 2 floors. = 96,000

96000va *125%=120000 do you think this is correct.

They added this note to Table 220.12 for the 2020 code.
Note: The 125 percent multiplier for a continuous load as specified in 210.20(A) is included when using the unit loads in this table for calculating the minimum lighting load for a specified occupancy.
The application of the 125% factor is not clear in the earlier codes.
