Help w a load calculation

Ok so needless to say, as a licensed master electrician I'm ashamed I even have to ask this question since I obviously knew how to answer it at some point considering I passed my exam the first time with relative ease but I simply can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

I'm working on a load calc for a commercial building that is being added on to and to save time I went to county records to get the existing load calculations. The existing calculations have a 7kw heat listed at 5000va. All the old notes I have from when I took my test I can't seem to find. I do have some old Calculation exam books and from what I can gather from reading them is that a 7kw heat should come out to 7000va. What am I missing?

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

I am guessing an error. 7kw is 7000 watts- no way around that.

You should not feel bad as most of us have a hard time with calcs.

Thank you! I thought I had it right but I wanted to be sure since it was obviously accepted by the building department as being accurate. I've been making calls all day trying to find someone that could help me but no one could. Someone mentioned the "optional" method and that's when I decided I needed more help than I was getting.

Thanks again!

That the existing calculations were wrong?
