Hey all,

I am getting ready to take my ny state license exam next week. I seem to be finding my self having trouble with applying the right demand factors to the right calculations. I thought I would give it a shot and ask if anyone has come up with a simplified version to write down somewhere in my code book to cross reference.

any help or guidance is appreciated

I'm not sure about NY State's licensing exam & having no knowledge of their requirements, or what you can bring-in into exam situation reference. And unless you're exactly sure yourself, and having already "followed it-up".. But several State examination location(s) actually forbid "hand-written notes" inside your copy of NFPA70 that utilizing during state examination. Again, not sure about NY State though. Good luck on your exam !

Table 430.52 for sizing your short circuit / ground fault protection, 430.32 (1) for sizing overloads, and the table values in part XIV, at the end of article 430, times 125% for circuit conductor size should get you through most of the calculations that I have seen on exams.
