I’ve got a heat system with a 6zone control relay for zone valves they added a cooling system completely separate system .I installed a Honeywell heat / cool thermostat removed the jumper connected Red from relay to Rh and White from relay to W of T-stat base. Connected the air handler control wires properly and have checked them numerous times . The air handler has not been energized yet. I snapped in the thermostat switched it to heat turned it way up to check the heat side .. blew the 500 Ma fuse .. checked and rechecked wires replaced fuse , same result only this time I was watching, it glowed and blew out . Connect it back to the old t87 runs fine . 25 volts at R.W. This is the relay I don’t have the Honeywell part number but I’ve talked to them twice to no avail .. anyone got any thoughts?

Did you try to reverse the polarity alot of heat only systems only required two wire operation didn't really matter. Introduce a rolling system and that changes

Not enough info.
What terminals is the air handler connected to.
Well as I said the air handler isnt energized and the systems are separate I ran R to Rc G to G y1 to Y and brought the common up on B for future use . The old T87 is two wire so the only two wires with potential are the RW from the zone valve relay and I have 25 volts at RW base plate . I also tested for continuity between Rc and Rh even though I removed jumper

It’s still a two wire on the heat application , R and W the only things that have changed are the wire going up the wall , the electronic t-stat and now there is no heat anticipator

Is thermostat battery powered or powered by control circuit? And if control circuit does it get powered by Rh or Rc?

Does it work with all the cooling related wires disconnected?
