Friend has computer connected to non gfci protected circuit. When it is turned on it trips gfci circuit 2 spaces above in panel board . Same leg of 240 single phase circuit. Lights on same circuit as computer do not trip the gfci circuit.

There could be a bad MOV/ or filter in the gfci breaker which may leave it susceptible to the high freq transients of the computers switch mode power supply.
Try installing a new gfci breaker and see if that helps.

I've seen this happen with SQD GFCI QOB breakers. I turned on a fluorescent light and as many as six unrelated (except that they were in the same panel) GFCI breakers tripped.

I replaced the fluorescent ballast with a different brand and the problem went away.

Thanks, was thinking maybe something to do with gfci or computer, doesn't trip every time computer is turned on but usually does. Lights on same circuit (breaker) with computer never trips the gfci 2 spaces above in qo plug on main breaker panel. Thanks again for a direction to look!
