Helped Dad do a service upgrade late last week.
I got a call on Sunday at home from the home owner. He stated that he did laundry for the first time since the upgrade and his dryer appeared to be working but was not getting the clothes dry. He thought that it may not be getting as hot as usual.
My first response was that I did not think the dryer would work at all if we had mistakenly wired it back in the panel 120V instead of 240V but on a long shot I thought maybe the motor might work and the elements not be getting hot. I know the guy and knew he was somewhat mechanical and asked him if he could test the voltage at the dryer plug.
He said he could, put me on hold, came back and said it was 240V. He was convinced the dryer had a problem, as was I and forgot about it.
Well, went back to his house yesterday to do a couple of extra things and he shared with me he found the problem with the dryer. He said there was a very dead and very nasty mouse with a bunch of other "crud" blocking the dryer vent. He could only elaborate by saying "it was not good".
It was good to know, funny and not funny at the same time.
If anyone else runs into this, be sure to check the dryer vent!
