So my local PoCo got bought up by Commonweath Edison err Exelon. They have been running out yanking out perfect good 40 yo poles just because they fall down when leaned on, etc. (And cutting down trees with 110% enthusiasm.)
They are also adding RF-controlled 13.2KV disconnects as if they were going out of stock next week.
The controls are made by TELVENT but I don't see who makes the disconnects.
My question is: How are they powered? I would think they were run off batteries that float charged. But do they need a 240/120 secondary source? it's not obvious in this imagery, nor in person, if it is tapped from that. Plus I don't think every pole with one even has secondary feeds.
Or is there some small stepdown xfmr up top?
