Where in the NEC can I find where it tells me that a luminaire is or is not a device. I'm looking in 410 and i need to cite the NEC article number.

Look in article 100 for the definitions of "Device" and "Luminaire". (2008)

Same here. You will find that the best information and discussions are here on the forum. By far, actually. No where else can you get such a wide range of opinions from every part of the jurisdiction of the NEC. All you have to do is accept our sometimes dry sense of humor. I consider the contributors to this forum to be the best in the country. Sometimes my responses don't reflect that respect but it is nonetheless present.
