HID wall pak installed on vinyl siding

I was talking to a building owner today and he asked about installing wall pak lighting around the perimeter of a building that is vinyl sided. Is there any code that prohibits installing HID type fixtures onto a vinyl sided surface? I recall in the past having an inspector tell me that surface mount florescent strips for instance had to have a space between the fixture and the surface (combustible tongue and groove wood ceiling). Have installed many on brick and stucco surfaces but never vinyl. Thanks.

You might call Arlington, they have some vinyl products that achieve a flat service.

I guess it depends on what you hanging, weight wise.
