what is the actual available fault current ?

(You can use a 10, 22, 65k, etc breaker... the buss remains the "weak link")
 
I don't know that I'm qualified to answer and I don't normally post where TMHS steps, but it seems to me that as long as you are installing a breaker with a greater AIC rating there would be no problem unless it alters some critical downstream numbers.
In simple terms it appears to me to be the same as replacing a 240v switch with a 600v on a 240 system but what do I know :D
