I think I'd give you a different answer for my one man operation vs if I were bidding the jobs you are often asking questions about on this site.
I probably end up doing 70% or better of the jobs I either bid, guesstimate or just plain get contacted about, but if doing some the kinds of projects you come here asking about might feel lucky to actually get a contract on 25% of them?

I was in a similar boat as Kwire. Usually when asked for a price, I was already the selected EC and I rarely dealt directly with GCs.
