Hey all,

My apologies for my ignorance but I am not well versed on home security systems. I have a customer who is very religious. He wishes to be able to switch his home security system off but have the battery still charging. Can I accomplish this with a RIB relay? Has anyone done this before in the group? Thank you!

Thank you for your response, they do not want any lights going on or sensors working.

You would need to put a switch in series with the Aux power out that feeds the keypads, motion detectors, etc.

Or just power the entire system down and use an external charger instead of the charger on the alarm controller board?

There are expansion boards for some home alarm systems (mine is a Honeywell, that's the part I'd look for) which can charge batteries for expansion devices. They are also used to provide remote power when keypad loads are above whatever is rated for the keypad output.

This might be the correct charging device. Output of this things battery goes to the battery itself as well as a relay which connects and disconnects the battery to the alarm. Another two poles can be used to make and break AC power to the alarm controller. So, 4PST switch which gets turned on and off. If it's on during a power failure the battery is still connected.
