like any other calculation---whats your needs??? some people only needs lights---others may need medical equipment like a dyalisis unit... some people want to operate the whole house?????

We found that a 12 KW generator is sufficient to run an entire house if you eliminate the AC range and dryer. The transfer switches we used had dry contacts that we used to break the tstat so the AC could not start. as for the range and dryer the home owner has to use common sense.
