I received a call from a realtor asking me to change out some 3 prong outlets and install some 2 prong ungrounded outlets. Apparently years back someone changed out the ungrounded receptacles. (We have all seen that before). Am I right if I reinstall 2 prong ungrounded outlets so the home inspection passes? The wiring is knob and tube where they would be installed. I was taught that this was an accepted practice. If I am wrong you guys will let me know.

TIA

I would say at this point it would probably best to simply gfci protect the circuits and identify the existing grounding-type receptacles in accordance with 406.(3)(D)...

I agree with Bryan, but if you do not install GFCI protection, the receptacles do need to be replaced with two prong devices.
