Greetings,

When we power an ADU which is separated from the main building, per NEC code do we need to have a new grounding electrode next to the ADU and bond the rebars and water metal pipes per NEC if we use the existing service but we put a new subpanel in the ADU?

Thanks for feedback.

In case "Home Separate Addition" refers to an attached addition, just with a separate entrance, then the subpanel would be treated just like any other subpanel.

Cheers, Wayne

If it's in a detached building, electrodes are required.

If it's close enough, the main building's electrodes may be shared.
