I bought a couple of these last year with no problem. They now appear not readily avaialble and twice the price. Is something happening?

Why do you need a 2-pole AFCI breaker when AFCI protection is only required with 120v circuits? No 240v circuits require AFCI protection.

Multiwire circuits
(2) single-pole AFCI breakers would work if you used a listed handle tie and the ungrounded conductors are on opposite phases in the panel. You just terminate your grounded conductor to one of the single-pole AFCI breakers. It doesn't matter which one.

With some other brands you would be able to use two single pole AFCIs with a handle tie for a multiwire circuit, but I don't think that is the case with Square D. GE, Siemens, and one of the Eaton lines have removed the ground fault protection from their AFCIs making it possible to use two single pole AFCIs with a handle tie for a multiwire circuit, but I am pretty sure that Square D still has the ground fault circuit and will require an actual two pole device for a multiwire circuit.
