I have a project where they needed to move the hood control cabinet above a dropped ceiling. I assume this is fine because its not uncommon to see other line item control cabinets above a dropped ceiling like VAV boxes and transformers but wanted another opinion to make sure I wasnt missing something here.

If your luck's anything like mine, an inspector would turn a blind eye to the control cabinet, then, turn right around and flag you for that 4 square box in the sheetrock as not being accessible. :)

Well, the installation won't be complete until you run a piece of EMT in front of the door sealing off all access. Which is a reason putting control cabinets above drop ceilings is a sub-optimal solution.
