For the alternate source of a fire pump ATS in a hospital, which section of a generator distribution switchboard would the feeder be derived? 700.2 Informational Note states that fire pumps can be considered emergency loads. However, 517.26 says the life safety branch of the essential system shall comply with 700, except as amended by 517. Nowhere in 517 is the term fire pump, and the definitions in 517.33 and 34 are pretty specific. And there's no way I can see something as important as a fire pump all the down in lowly 517.35 equipment branch. Would the feeder be derived from the segregated (per 700.10) life safety section or from the "other" critical/equipment branch section? Is it an AHJ call?
