Hospital grade and isolated ground

What code cycle are you under?

Isolated ground receptacles have never been compliant in exam rooms and 517.16 that seemed to allow it was completely removed in the 2011.

As to the cable used, it would have to be HCF of some type unless it's on the Critical Branch, then it would have to be a ridgid metallic conduit or EMT.

I agree with Roger, it is hard to have isolated and redundant grounding from the same receptacle so the concept of isolated grounding receptacles in health care areas doesn't work with the redundant grounding requirements.

Redundant grounding is for the patient benefit, isolated grounding is for equipment benefit, patient wins the tie breaker, equipment needs to be designed so that isolated grounding is not necessary.
 
I thought that it was strange, the outlets are located by the doors, I'm guessing for communication equipment for the doctors. But an exam room is an exam room.

Most IG receptacles I have seen were also hospital grade, not sure why.

I don't think I have installed one in like 20 years though, but have messed with a few existing ones.
