Hospital grade device vs. wiring

This isn't a code issue but rather it's more a grey area which is open to discussion.

If a hospital grade receptacle is being installed in an area where it is not required by N.E.C. does it need to be fed by wiring which is hospital grade (example hospital grade MC or BX)?

I was always under the impression that the green dot on the device signifies that the device AND the wiring method complies with article 517.

Any input on this?

No, it would not. If a HG receptacle is installed in a non-patient care area it is nothing more than a heavy duty receptacle.
