Can non hospital grade receptacles be installed in other than patient care areas?

Generally they are required at patient bed locations. Look at 517.18(B), 517.19(B)(2), and 517.19(C)(2). Some cord an plug medical equipment may also be required to be plugged into a hospital grade receptacle per the manufacturer's instructions.
