Are there any codes or standards that state which light fixtures in a hospital need to be sealed, or gasketed, or a specific class (like 10,000 or 100,000)?

Specifically I'm wondering about the clean and soiled utility rooms, storage rooms, and scrub areas in an operating area.

Private or public?

Either way,
I would go to director of operations at another hospital- a guy that has been there at least since ronald reagan, and talk with him about the specifics.
Materials and codes have improved, but the big facilities have a mix of old and new.
The guy who has been there 30 years will have more insight, continuity with the intent of the regs.

up till 20 maybe 30 years ago government buildings were built and maintained to higher standard

no code section sorry, just a general reply since no one else answered

Most states have an oversight agency for hospitals.
Here in Florida we call it Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) and they have to approve all hospital plans before a bldg dept can issue a permit.
You can check to see if your state has one. They are very resourceful and proactive. They actually do want to help!
