Hospital Receptacle Identification

When it come to hospitals, where in the NEC does it say that all receptacles shall be labeled with the Panel Name and Circuit Number?

I have always had to label each receptacle in the past. Is this a hospital spec or Code?

Take a look at 517.18(B). I don't think all receps in a hospital need to be ID'd. Also take a look at the FPN. I hope this helps.

Receptacles installed on the hospital?s emergency system must include the circuit number and panelboard. It is not a requirement for other hospital receptacles.

Emergency system receptacles shall be identified and shall also indicate the panelboard and circuit number supplying them. [517.19(A)]

Do take note that 517.19 is pertaining to Critical Care Areas and the requirement for this identification is only for the Emergency System receptacles at the Patient Bed location in these areas, no where else.

Most hospitals I work in require labeling for all receptacles, but this is a design specification and a good idea.
