hot tub breaker size

The customer installed a used hot tub that says 40 amps on the label. I ran a 50 amp circuit with 50 amp gfci. Should I go back and change the 50 amp breaker in the house panel to a 40 ? only a 10 minute job

If the unit states max overcurrent protective device to be 40 then yes it should be changed.

Otherwise, if 50a is suitable for the circuit, it's okay.

Read the manual. More than likely it’s a 50 amp because continuous duty

Then that's just the load. A 50a circuit is perfect.
