It's been a while since my last tub.(maybe 4 months, yeah, i forget easily:))

I cant find the requirement forbidding disconnect being less than 5' from hot tub. Inspector says it'll be ok if i put closer than 5', but i thought there's was something about it in the NEC.

I may be confuse with the emergency shutt off requirement.

Disconnect i'm talking about is on of them Hot tub disconnect with the 50 amp. breaker in it.

Thank you all.

I don't think there is a minimum distance for a disconnect. 5' rule you are thinking of is most likely minimum distance from tub to any receptacle, even if tub is supplied by receptacle.

Without looking in the book it should be 5' or more but within sight of the hot tub. In a single family dwelling the emergency shutoff switch is not required.

I thought the same way , but when i went to the book, i couldn't find anything about that 5' rule for the disconnect. I know that the emergency shut off is not needed in a dwelling, maybe i was thinking about the shutt off when i thought i read the disconnect requirement in the NEC.
