Re: hot tub disconnect

(From 2002): 680.41 requires the type of emergency shutoff switch that you are describing. It does not apply to a single family dwelling unit. But more importantly, it does not satisfy the additional requirement that a disconnecting means shall be provided within sight and accessible.

The code articles that get you there start with 680.40 (General). This says that Part I applies to hot tubs. Next, go to 680.12. Here is where you need to have a maintenance disconnect. But keep in mind this maintenance disconnect has to be within sight and accessible from the equipment it serves. It does not have to be within sight and accessible from the tub. Is that what you were looking for?
