I am not an electrician just to say up front.I'm just concerned about a recent DIY project my pal just did. He recently installed an outdoor hot tub and mentioned he just followed the Mfr instructions. Are the manufacturer's installations always up to NEC? I know he mentioned installing a 50a GFI but not a local GFI on the light circuit. I just thought I read.........Thanks.

I can't comment on your friend's installation, because I have no real facts to go on. But I will say that if you do exactly what the manufacturer says to do, and if you do nothing else, that is not a guarantee that all related NEC requirements will have been met.
