We are doing work in a hotel and the hotels inspector wants a switch to turn on the hot tub jets but the jets can only run for 10 mins at a time. The problem is that they want only one switch to turn it on and off and the smallest timed switch we could find was 15 min. Im not sure if hot tub companys make something for this or not. any ideas?

We normally will place a time delay relay at the pump room and just have a simply momentary contact push button out at the tub.

Any supply house should have one or Graingers for sure.

A delay on make relay will do the job if you use a maintained contact switch. The switch would power the relay and the relay contact. When you turn the switch on the a NC closed contact would start the pump and this contact would open after the relay times out. Turning the switch off at any point would stop the pump. Look at the delay on make drawing on page 3 of this document. Note there are a lot of other time delay relays that can do this, I just like this one because you can make it do just about any timing function that you would want.
