I got to wire hot tub for a customer at his single family house in he back yard . Needs 50 amp circuit. What code rules should I be aware of ? And code article references please

Start by reading art 680 parts I through IV. If this is a permanent spa you can skip part III.

Chapter 1-4 general rules still apply unless something is specifically modified in 680.

I need gfci breaker right ? Also what is the distance for the disconnect to the hot tub ? Do I need a service outlet also near by ?

That depends on the tub, see nameplate. Seem most require a 50 amp 120/240 volt circuit but there are some that only need a 30 amp circuit some need a 60 amp circuit. Rare but out there are so called "portable spa's that only need 15 amp 120 volt receptacle. Those usually do not heat during user operation because that would draw too much current, but do have a ~1200 watt heater and run the pump on a low speed when heating.
