mounting high current on demand hot water heater under sink (80 A) 4 - 2 pole 40s - is nema 3r enclosure required? - please reference code article thank you

Under a sink is a normally dry enviroment. You can use a NEMA 3R enclosure if you want. I would look at the enviroment, if subject to washdown in a commerican kitchen then 3R or 4 or 4X would be appropiate. Why are you installing a water heater to heat hot water? Is this a booster?
Your code reference would be 110.3(B) and 110.11

Get it? It's a COLD water heater, it makes it hot.

Although a booster is truly a hot water heater. Hot water in, scalding water out.

Must be too early in the morning for some people...

Tom what he's talking about is a tankless instant hot water heater this is why the high amprage. a booster is only about 16 amps. I have installed a few of these in resturants be cause the health department won't allow more than 120 deg. at the bathroom sinks and auto temp valves can cost quit a bit not to include the cost of running seprate water lines on an existing system this is a chep way out.
